Our Story

R&M Trucking Co. (R&M) is a family owned and operated business that has been a part of the local Chicago trucking industry since 1976. R&M’s namesake and founder, Robert May, had been working as a professional truck driver in the Chicago area for nearly 25 years before he took a chance on starting his own business with his wife Marge. With a team of just four trucks, the R&M drivers quickly became known for their “never say no” attitude and quick service as a local carrier. R&M’s reputation for delivering excellent service allowed Robert & Marge to grow R&M’s fleet to the 250+ company trucks it is today across the Chicago area.

Nearly 50 years later, the May family continues to hold true to Robert & Marge’s commitment to their customers, as well as their employees. Today, their sons Jerry May & David May serve as president and co-owner of R&M. In 2010, Jeff’s Fast Freight (Jeff’s), became a part of the R&M family expanding the company’s reach to Milwaukee, and later to Neenah and Madison in Wisconsin. Most recently in 2015, R&M has expanded its Intermodal division to a new terminal in Elwood, Illinois.
